Not-So-Wordless Wednesday

I swear I have been posting since April, but none of my posts show up.  I can see them, but I can't get them to publish correctly.  I have to copy and paste the text and re-upload all the pictures.

I'm slowly working on it. In the mean time, please bear with me...

Dream Cruising

BC (before Callahan), Billy and I enjoyed cruising Woodward in the Lightning.  We never went on the day of the Dream Cruise itself (too crowded), but usually a few week nights leading up to it.  I love the atomosphere.  Tons of people, peacefully chilling up and down the road. 

This year things had to change.  The Lightning only seats two.  Cal and I went to Gymboree (a block off Woodward) and Billy met us down there after class.  Parking on the street is tough to find, so when Cal and I spotted a prime spot being vacated, we stood in it until Billy pulled in.

Cal is a big fan of cars.  Last year he did somersaults in my belly every time a loud car rolled by.  This year he just sat and stared (and ocasionally yelled out his appreciation).

We stayed until dark that night.  We went back the next night (Friday) too.  Billy's parents, grandparents, uncle and cousin were there too.  Four generations, sitting in lawn chairs, watching the cars cruise by.

Going to Camp

My summer has officially started!  Summer school is over, all my meetings are done, and I have a full, glorious month to spend as a stay-at-home mom before I have to return to work.  Cal and I started off our summer adventures by visiting my cousin Charlotte at her horse camp.  They do a big show at the end of the session and I had never been to one before.  It was about 2 hours away, but we timed the drive around nap time and Cal did great.

We used the backpack so Cal could see over the crowds and he was fascinated by the show.

  After the show, we went to Reid and Diana's cabin for lunch. Cal enjoyed swinging in the hammock.

Cal and Charlotte slept together in the back seat all the way home.  All that fresh air must be exhausting!

Movie Night!

I love the drive-in.  As a parent, I love the drive-in even more because I can take the kid and no one gives me the side eye.  It rocks.  As an added bonus, the drive-in we like to go to shows first run double features - 2 movies for the price of one!

Billy is particular about what movies we see at the drive-in.  Most action movies are out, because (evidently) the sound quality on our car radio sucks when compared to the surround sound in the theaters.  When the aliens blow up Earth, Billy wants to feel the BOOM.

We decided that Cal's first movie would be Cars 2.  Billy is a fan of the original Cars and was super excited to find out when I was pregnant that there would be a sequel.  We ended up taking two cars to the movie (they charge per person and not per vehicle) because the back of the truck is best to sit in, but it has no back seat.  It turned out pretty well though, because we could keep all of our stuff in my car and have all the back of the truck free for a crawling baby.

Cal feel asleep during the open credits.  He curled up right next to Mommy and stayed that way the entire time.  No drama, no fuss...just a perfect night with our little family.

The Easter Parade

Cal has been one busy bunny!

He started the weekend off dyeing eggs (or watching Mommy dye eggs)

He went to the farm with all of his grandparents to visit the Easter Bunny.  The bunny was tolerated, the animals in the petting zoo were not.

On Easter Sunday, he got a basket full of goodies and then went out to breakfast with Grandma and Grandpa L.

Then we went out to brunch (I guess it was linner at that point) and saw the Easter Bunny again with Aunt Britt.

A Day of Firsts

We like to do it up big around here, so we tackled first haircut and first food all in the span of 10 minutes.  Why a hair cut at 4 months you ask?  Behold "the chunk":

Cal was born with a chunk of hair that was thicker and longer than the rest.  While I think it is cute, it started to look a little bit like a comb over, so Daddy was tasked with the first haircut.

 Once the hair was taken care of, Daddy was rewarded for his scissor skills by giving Cal his first taste of "solid" food (if you can call liquid cereal a solid).

It went well...no scalps were cut, no cereal was spit back at us, but man, is he growing up fast!

(And keeping with the theme of firsts, 13 years ago today was when Billy and I first started dating!)

4 Month Stats (2 weeks late)

We had to delay Cal's 4 month well baby visit because he wasn't so well.  He did get weighed a measured at our first appointment, but they were unable to do any of his vaccinations.  He was finally well enough 2 weeks later, so back we went.  Despite his cold, Cal grew half an inch and gained almost a pound in those two weeks! 

At 4 months:
Weight: 16 lb, 4 oz (79%)
Height: 26 in (86%)

At 4 months and 2 weeks:
Weight: 17 lb, 2 oz (80%)
Height: 26.5 in (88%)

Feeling better and cuter than ever!
