One Month!

Cal celebrated his one month birthday at Mommy's happy place - the condo!  He went out to eat at some of our favorite places and spent tons of time with adoring family.

It's a good thing Grandma takes lots of pictures, because sometimes we end up with ones like these:

One month stats: 10 lbs 7 ozs (still lighter than Aunt Britt was at birth) and 22.5 inches long.

Christmas

Cal had a great first Christmas.  Grandma and Grandpa Lollis came over on Christmas Eve and brought him some clothes and toys.  Then Daddy had to go to work, so Mommy and Cal went to the midnight church service with Grandma and Grandpa Koester.  Cal slept through the entire service, but woke up on the way home when he and Mommy stopped by the hospital to wish Daddy a Merry Christmas.

We celebrated at home as a family when Billy got off work in the morning.  Cal got lots of goodies in his stocking.  His stocking is very similar to mine.  My grandmother knitted stocking for me, my sister and my cousins, and my mom found a half finished one in my grandma's things and finished it for Cal.  I'm sure he'll love it when he grows up, because it stretches to fit lots. Right now, though, it is bigger than him.

In the (Christmas) spirit of family togetherness (and a biscuit bribe) Augie and Casey posed with Cal.

(Can you see the biscuits?  ^^^)

After we celebrated, Billy went to sleep and Cal and I began to make our Christmas rounds.  We went to the Carr's for family breakfast.  Cal got lots of love from the Carr women and Rick's sister Marlena.  Then we went to Grandma and Grandpa's to open more presents.  After that, we went to Aunt Tina's to celebrate with the Koester clan.  Billy met us there, and thought he would have to leave early for work, but (in a rare occurrence) was called off.  We enjoyed the time with family, and Cal got lots of cuddles - Rick's mom was a huge baby hog (in a good way!)

One last picture-he looks like he is getting his groove on!

Cal's Hats

We have a little problem...a hat problem.  We can't stop buying the kid hats!  Some times Cal tolerates them, sometimes he tells you exactly how he feels.

Here Comes Santa Claus!

We took Cal to see Santa on Tuesday.  Before he was born, Aunt Britt made an appointment at Santa's Cabin.  It is a little log cabin in the woods where Santa and Mrs. Claus hang out.  You go at your designated time and get to take as many pictures as you want - all for just a $30 sitting fee.  I loved that we didn't have to lug Cal to the mall and that we were able to have multiple poses.  Plus, I can make as many copies as I want!  Cal posed with everyone and was such a good boy!  Afterwards, we went out to dinner for Grandma's birthday.  Little man slept all through dinner.

Bath Time

Cal's first bath at home took place on the kitchen table.  We oh-so-ambitiously started a kitchen renovation when I was about 20 weeks pregnant.  Add to that Billy getting a new job, going back to school and me switching schools and we had a much longer time line than anticipated.  We did all the work ourselves, with a little help from friends and family.  Because of a few delays, the counters and sink were not installed until Cal was a week old.  I was so happy to have them that I celebrated by giving Cal a bath.  He's not so sure about the whole bath thing yet.  I think he likes the water, but not the getting out part.

Getting ready for his kitchen table bath.

Pardon the arm, but I love his little face!  He looks a little skeptical...

Counters!  A Sink!  Cabinets!  A baby in a tub...this is what I dreamed of for this kitchen.

Welcome Home

We're home!  They sprung us from the hospital around 5:00 on Wednesday and we ran out of there so fast we forgot to take any pictures.  We've been adjusting to life as a family of three and found that our favorite family activity is napping.

Glow Worm

This is how my sweet little boy spent last night...working on his tan.  Just like Mommy and Daddy were when they were born, our little Callahan is jaundiced.  I was discharged yesterday, but we spent another night so Cal could hang under the bili lights.  They ran his blood again this morning, and hopefully we get to go home soon.
